There's no such thing as drown-proof.

ISR advocates for a multi-layered approach to water safety.

Just like any defense system, individual layers may falter, which is why reinforcing your safety plan with multiple layers is crucial. The more layers you have in place, the more robust your water safety strategy becomes.

ISR's Multi-Layered Guidelines:

Effective Supervision

Even with the best intentions, lapses in supervision can occur. That's why it's vital to designate a Water Watcher whenever water is nearby. Many drowning incidents happen when least expected. Stay vigilant and assign a dedicated supervisor to keep a close eye on aquatic environments.

Alarms

Enhance your safety measures beyond window and door locks by installing alarms. These devices provide an additional layer of protection, alerting you immediately if your child tries to access areas with water, helping you respond swiftly to potential risks.

Pool Fences

Pool fences are a cornerstone of any water safety strategy. Opt for a 4-sided fence positioned at least 3-5 feet away from the pool's edge, complete with a self-latching, self-closing gate. Mesh pool fences offer added security with their non-climbable design while maintaining visibility to the water, ensuring comprehensive safety measures for your pool area.

Survival Swimming Lessons

Consider enrolling your child in a top-tier swim program such as ISR Self-Rescue, prioritizing survival skills and teaching them to reach safety independently. This invaluable layer of protection stays with your child wherever they go, empowering them with essential aquatic survival skills for life.

CPR Training

In case of an emergency, being prepared is paramount. Take the initiative to learn CPR techniques for both children and adults, and ensure you regularly refresh and update these lifesaving skills.
